Localization of noise sources in the cabin and underhood of cars
Inspection of operating components with the NAC-PA camera: search for sources of unusual sounds and noise affecting comfort in the cabin, followed by analysis of the recordings in Aura SVS.

What are the causes of noise-related defects?
This is a hypothetical scenario based on case materials, not actual losses or verified savings at the surveyed company. Estimates apply to a hypothetical annual claims program; actual costs depend on the type of vehicle, number of defects, repair costs, and operating conditions.

Task: to determine the source of an atypical sound
In automobile production, it was necessary to localize noise sources in the engine compartment and cabin. The obtained data was intended to assist specialists in maintenance and the development of noise reduction measures.
When a vehicle is running, the engine, auxiliary equipment, ventilation systems, and other components all produce sounds simultaneously. Whistling, rattling, pulsating, or unusual humming sounds can be difficult to pinpoint to a specific component by ear alone.
It was important not only to determine the location of the source, but also to preserve the acoustic data for detailed analysis after the tests.
Solution: acoustic map of operating units
A portable acoustic camera, NAC-PA, was used in conjunction with Aura SVS for the survey. The camera displayed the location of sound sources on an image of the vehicle, helping to identify areas for further inspection.
The saved container files contained video footage and acoustic data. This allowed for further study of the office recordings and the preparation of a report on the investigation's findings.

How was the examination conducted?
Survey in operating modes
The vehicle components were examined with the engine running in situ, in motion, and on bench equipment.
Search for noise sources
The acoustic map was used to determine the location of atypical sounds and sources that create discomfort in the cabin.
Recording conditions and observations
The operator saved container files with acoustic data and added notes for later analysis.
Exploring Aura SVS Recordings
Specialists analyzed the preserved material and prepared a report for checking the components and further refinement of the design.
Result: areas for further testing have been identified
During the inspection, the sources of the unusual sounds were localized and their locations were recorded on the vehicle image. The images presented demonstrate the search for acoustic signs of a malfunction in the engine valve train area.
The saved recordings and notes allowed for further analysis in Aura SVS. The survey data helps specialists select components for inspection and evaluate possible measures to reduce cabin noise.
